Testimonials

CTC Psychological Services

At CTC, we are dedicated to providing an individually tailored service in order to meet your specific needs, or those of your organisation.  Below are testimonials from clients to whom we have provided support:

“We were unfortunate, a few years ago, to experience a life changing trauma that affected our family.  Thanks to CTC and the professional competent services they provided we are now in a much happier situation. Each of us was affected differently and CTC tailored their support, in content and duration, to each individual using a number of counsellors with complete discretion. At times the situation appeared dark and never ending but CTC provided reassurance and hope that we would come through it all.  We strongly recommend CTC and its services for anyone requiring support through challenging times.”

“I have worked with CTC for over 20 years in my role as a Children's Guardian.  I have always found their assessments to be clear, comprehensive and easily understood.  They offer reasonable timescales for assessments, which comply with the new 26 week requirements in care proceedings, and file their reports on time. CTC have the added bonus of having their own Centre, which means that families who are being assessed within court proceedings are able to undergo that assessment in calm, comfortable surroundings. This also allows CTC to conduct a more comprehensive assessment, utilising a full day, without causing undue stress to the participants.  The psychologists are available to attend court hearings and professionals meetings when required and always make a valuable contribution.”

“I have been aware of the excellence of the therapeutic and professional services provided by CTC Psychological Services since 1998. Their family work and expertise in helping people recovering from trauma is highly skilled, client-focused and delivered with great care and professionalism. I continue to refer clients to them who are in need of their services and I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone requiring their services.”

"I found Dr l'Anson, and the support staff, very helpful. Communication during the assessment process was very good. Dr l’Anson was flexible and responsive to what were changing circumstances and instructions. The final report was most helpful, and filed on time. I would not hesitate to re-instruct on another matter.”

“Dr Gill I'Anson has been the expert of choice in several recent care cases in which I have been instructed. She is very clear both in her Reports and orally with first class back up and administration. In a recently concluded case where Dr I’Anson gave oral evidence, after the filing of her Report, the Court described her as "clear and compelling.”

“Nici worked with a number of pupils at the PRU who had been through emotionally traumatic experiences.  Her calm, nurturing and positively focused approach allowed them the space for reflection that they needed, and provided staff with valuable support to help get their education back on track. Nici also supported staff in looking for positive strategies to engage pupils and better understand their needs.  Pupils valued Nici's persistence and reliability and built up trust in her relationship with them, which for many of our pupils is the first step in getting back some control over their lives.”

“Parenting a traumatised child is tough. Being a traumatised child trying to process her trauma whilst simultaneously trying to integrate into a new family is tougher still. CTC have been with us every step of the way, from their first psychological assessment of my daughter, to assessing my husband and I as potential adoptive parents and explaining to us the impacts of trauma on our daughters mental health. We have weekly play therapy sessions for our daughter and therapeutic mentoring sessions for me. My daughter has significant unresolved trauma resulting in PTSD, attachment issues, learning difficulties and most challenging of all, potential Dissociative Identity Disorder. CTC have helped my family navigate through our daughter’s journey of recovery by creating a safe therapeutic environment for her to "play in each week" whilst mentoring, coaching and supporting me to become a therapeutically attuned parent. I in turn pass on this knowledge to the wider family and we move forward together on our journey. Without CTC I simply would not have been equipped to help my daughter. Whilst CTC do direct my reading it's the space to talk and discuss that learning and devise strategies for the day to day realities of parenting a wonderful, beautiful, fabulous, but very hurt little girl that makes the difference. CTC have helped me process my own tantrums, tears and triumphs  along the way and helped me on my journey to understand my daughter and in turn help her to understand and eventually love herself. We have been on a fabulous journey of discovery and joy with our daughter for 18 months now, and whilst there have been a few wrong turns, rocky paths and stormy waters along the way, she is tangibly, amazingly and movingly making progress in every area of her being.  We still have some mountains to climb and rivers to navigate but I am fully confident that with CTC's continued support we can hold hands together, face into her abusers and the pain they have wrought and step forward together with strong and sure footsteps into a brighter, better future.”
